Welcome to Datavis Musings

Introducing my new blog on data visualization, statistical graphics, and R programming
I’m excited to launch this blog as a space to share thoughts on data visualization, statistical graphics, R programming, and the history of visual thinking. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while, but finally got A Round Tuit.

What to Expect
From time to time, I’ll be writing about:
- R packages — new releases, tips, and worked examples from my packages
- Data visualization — interesting visualizations, graphical methods, and design principles
- History of data visualization — the people, ideas, and graphics that shaped the field
- Teaching — experiences, course materials, and pedagogical reflections
- Talks and papers — highlights from conference presentations and recent publications
What I’m working on now
My graduate course in Categorical Data Analysis is now complete for 2026. Students are working on their final projects, and I post a few things here that deserve a wider audience, and to honor their great work.
🧊 I’ve now turned my attention back to my book, Visualizing Multivariate Data and Models in R. I’ll write about some of the challenges and opportunities of writing this using Quarto
